And didn't Paul J. Witt write for The Golden Girls and Bernard Slade ( tho not sure if he was the writer exactly) on Beauty and Beast television show and did some Broadway plays?

This 'killing a show' theory doesn't make sense to me.

Like Scott said above, some nights have higher viewership than others, and networks schedule the best performing shows on those nights so as to maximize ad revenue. If Enterprise wasn't pulling in numbers expected for a given night, they'd have to move it to less expensive real estate (e.g., Friday night). The fans, like you said, will follow.

Generally, that is true and considering the good critical buzz Trek got, the fans did follow although many times with their Tivo's and VCR's. ( a study said that Enterprise was the most Tivo'd program). The interesting thing about the Enterprise situation is that UPN stated in no uncertain terms that Enterprise didn't fit their new vision of female oriented programming and it is interesting to note that they kept lower rated shows (Veronica Mars) on their schedule. As a matter of fact, they are now putting the WWE show on Friday and its been said that they only have it there due to a contract that doesn't expire til 2006 after which it's history too.

I don't think this was the case with TPF, but Saturday was not a good place for it and didn't help its case.

The interesting thing about the Enterprise situation...

... is that they made it suck so much. Laughing I have watched a whole lot of Trek with my hubby, and Enterprise just blew compared to all the other versions of Star Trek. I believe that is why it isn't on the air anymore. The concept ran out of steam. I was rooting for it too--I like Scott Bakula.
