An auction ended on eBay today -- I have no idea who the high bidder is, but I wonder if he/she knows what was actually purchased. The seller sold them as Fan Club photos, but in actuality they are the RARE mail-away premiums from Hi-C Fruit drink, back in 1971 (72?). For those who remember, the labels used to peel off of the aluminum Hi-C cans and on the back, a mini poster was printed. You could also mail away for a complete set, which is what was offered on this eBay auction.

Here's the link, so you can see the photos:

Cool, huh?? Very Happy

The bidder who lost out (song-of-love), I think he/she knows what they were. I have seen this person on ebay for several years, so I think they knew. I'm not sure about the winning bidder though.

Way cool! Very Happy The photo quality looks fantastic -- and most are shots I've never seen before -- except of course the group shot where they're all gathered around that big metal thingy -- what is that thing anyway??? An old boiler? Part of a locomotive?? Never quite been sure. Rolling Eyes

I would imagine the buyer new what they were. I was fortunate to get my set -- compete with original mailing envelope for about $50.00 three or four years ago. I was also lucky to get the beach towel mail away premium, (also through Hi-C) for about the same price, in mint condition -- never washed or faded. That usually goes for quite a bit more now.

:::sigh::: If I ever get around to updating the Collectibles section, you can see all of this stuff. Confused

You got a great deal Scott.
Bet you'll never see those prices again.
I'd never thought I'd see the beach towel unused.
I didn't think they'd exist.
Can't wait for the collectibles update. Anxious Dancing Drool

Hey Scott,
I was going to put a bid on them the other day. But I look at the price now and said Forget about it. Is there a way maybe you can post those rare pictures in the gallery? That would be neat to have in the gallery. If you don't mind me asking.

Peace,
Little Laurie

Laughing We drank alot of Kool Aid when I was young and I never saw these anywhere! If I had, I would have done extra, extra chores around the house to help with the purchase. I would do extra chores so that I could get my zines-16, 16 Spec and Tiger Beat every Saturday down at the local Eckerd Drug Store in Richland Mall. I was given an allowance of 25 cents for many years!! So, you can understand why I did extra chores to make extra money. These were great-thanks for sharing!

Peace,
Pat
