I can understand why this episode wasn't the cast's favorite. Hellish costumes for the California sun. It wasn't a totally silly storyline though - inspiration was close at hand ("Wake up like the Partridge Family does. Wake up with Rice Krispies cereal!") Just curious about the episode title: what does bednobs (or bedknobs?) mean? I get the drumsticks reference (of the chicken and musical variety) but I'm drawing a blank on bedknobs.

It's a play on the film/book title, "Bednobs and Broomsticks" which was made into a Disney film with Angela Lansbury around the same time this season aired.

Ah! Thanks, Scott. Never saw that movie. If I had been the least familiar with that movie's title, the PF episode title would have made sense. They usually referenced current culture.

Yes, I can definitely see this as the cast's least favorite. I don't care that much for it either.
I always see William Windom as Crazy Matt Decker about destroy the Enterprise in the Doomsday Machine so it always feels like this episode is destroying the Family.

The other thing I see is the thought that this is the chicken version of the Lost in Space episode "the Great Vegetable Rebellion"

Not a high moment for our favorite family.

my most memorable moment of this episode is when Shirley is singing, at the end, the Nananana... part, with that big smile. She's sooooooo beautiful. Laughing
Everytime I hear "Friend and a lover", I can see her smile while singing.
