Legendary Hollywood and Broadway leading lady Shirley Jones makes her UK debut at the Arts Theatre for 12 performances only.
Shirley Jones was virtually unknown when Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein cast her as Laurie in the 1955 movie version of their hit stage musical Oklahoma! which bought her world wide fame. She followed this up with the films of The Music Man and Carousel and won the 1960 Academy Award for Elmer Ganty. She was the matriarch of The Partridge Family and has appeared on Broadway in South Pacific, Maggie Flynn and 42nd Street
Called "the first lady of American song" by Bob Hope, Shirley Jones in concert promises to be a very special event and marks the first time this living legend has ever performed in the UK.

Many of the UK fans got tickets to this, and are looking forward to seeing her show. She will get a nice age mix of audience there (as she does here) esp when they've not seen her perform there before. I'm sure they will - if not already - all be sold out! And the TV hosts will be chuffed to interview her. |

Shirley Jones Will Make West End Debut, With Son Patrick Cassidy

Shirley Jones is to be joined her son Patrick Cassidy for her West End debut at London's Arts Theatre, where they begin a run of 12 performances only March 22-April 3.
Cassidy, son of Jones and the late Jack Cassidy, was last seen on Broadway as Julian Marsh in 42nd Street in 2004. Other Broadway credits include taking over as Radames in Aida, Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun and Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance. He also originated a role in the 1985 musical Leader of the Pack. Off-Broadway, he was seen in the original Off-Broadway production of Sondheim's Assassins. He currently stars in the ABC family series "Ruby and the Rockitts."
Oscar-winning Hollywood star Jones, who has also appeared on Broadway in South Pacific, Maggie Flynn and 42nd Street, was virtually unknown when Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein cast her as Laurie in the 1955 film version of their stage musical Oklahoma! It brought her worldwide fame. Subsequent leading roles on film included the movie versions of The Music Man and Carousel, and on TV she is best known for playing the matriarch in "The Partridge Family." Among the people she has acted with are Marlon Brando, James Stewart, Glenn Forde, Lloyd Bridges, Henry Fonda and James Cagney.
Her song list for her London appearances is set to include "Tonight," "If I Loved You," "A Wonderful Guy," "Send in the Clowns," "Memory," "76 Trombones", "What's the Use of Wonderin'," "When I Fall in Love," "He Touched Me," "He Loves Me," "As Time Goes By," "Can't Help Lovin' That Man," "You Made Me Love You," "Oklahoma!," "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning," "People Will Say We're in Love," "Out of My Dreams" and "You'll Never Walk Alone."
The London season is being presented by Barry J Mishon in association with the Arts Theatre.

On March 20th, Shirley will be doing a CD signing for her Then and Now Broadway CD at Dress Circle theatre memorabilia store in London at 1:45. Patrick not planning on being there, will only be Mom. |

Well from the vid on BBC, her concerts sound great, I would love to see her and Patrick perform together! He has a great voice. |
