Sorry it took me so long to catch up .. was out of town over the weekend.

When did the Family get a pool table? and where do they put it when they rehearse?

Fun episode. Wendell is a fun character and I like how they are still incoporating the problem of balancing show biz with normal life with Laurie having to work around the concert with dating Wendell.

Of course, Keith and Danny dragging Wendell in to ask Laurie out is very funny.
Interesting how none of Laurie's dates dance modern but always old fashioned box step style. ( ie Snake as well as Wendell)

I remember watching this as a kid and thinking the Wendall character was too cartoonish. I remember thinking he made the "Beverly Hillbillies" seem realistic. Laughing

Once again, required viewing as you WERE living in South Central. As well as Hee Haw, the Porter Wagoner Show (and shocked as hell it still runs on cable tv in England. Just got back from there and I felt SOOO at home watchin' Dolly singin' "Mule Skinner Blues".) and Midwestern Hayride. Not sure, but think Midwestern was not carried by a major network!

We couldn't hang with the more sophisticated stuff like Burkes Law or
Mod Squad. Couldn't wrap our brains around THAT! Tho, Mayberry RFD was a fav-o-rite in these hills. And if you was a fashionable gay boy (who didn't happen to know he was gay at the time), possibly THAT GIRL.

Laughing Laughing Laughing Hilarious! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Jay Ripley, who played Wendell, actually played Willie in a handful of episodes of Petticoat Junction. I used to love that show, mostly because of Bea Benederet as Kate Bradley. Kate did the best impersonation of Betty Rubble EVER! I kept waiting for someone on the show to bring it up.

In an era when recasts were usually fairly dramatic (Chris Partridge, Darrin Stephens), they sure went through a lot of Billie Jos and Bobbie Jos on that show!

Anyway, onto this episode... I thought Wendell was pretty exaggerated, too, but he was funny enough. I was happy enough to never see him again, though. Funny how that happens in San Pueblo. Some people only stayed in town for a week, yet there were a half-dozen guys wandering around town who seemed to be Bruce Kimmel clones.

I always laugh at the cheesy generic music they play at school dances! I guess it's just as well they never put in any real hit music of the day. They would probably only have to substitute it on the DVD for...well...cheesy generic music.

Wendell: There's something you should know about the male mystique.
Laurie: I guess so. I didn't know males had mystique! Laughing

It's cool to see a very young Ann Jillian in this episode. I was a fan of hers when she was doing sitcoms in the 80s.

As for the pool table, it looks like one of those ones from back then where the "legs" fold up underneath the table and then you store it against the wall of the garage (until one of Simone's boyfriends comes along and urinates on it and then nobody wants to hit anything into the side pocket anymore).

I don't think so. I think Bobby Conway and Lionel Poindexter ran over her as they drove out of town at the end of season one.

Simone was in the Xmas episode, and I think one other.

Um -- Bea Benederet was Betty Rubble, at least for the first 4 seasons. Not sure if you were kidding or not. Very Happy

That's right, I forgot about Simone being on the Christmas episode. Well, we'll have to keep an eye out for when we see her after that!

Yeah, I'm a stinker. I was having fun about Bea Benederet. I was going to put a winkyface after that, but I was feeling, mmm, I dunno....subtle. Wink
