Anatomy Of A Tonsil
Written by Coslough Johnson Directed by Lou Antonio Produced by Larry Rosen
Original Air Date: October 15, 1971

When Danny has his tonsils out, at first he thinks he will die . . . then he thinks he has lost his singing voice!
Guest Cast: Marshall Thompson, Gary Dubin, Robert Young (as Marcus Welby, on TV)

Song:
"Love Is All That I Ever Needed," music and lyrics by David Cassidy and Wes Farrell (on The Partridge Family Sound Magazine)

Tube Trivia:
Marshall Thompson is best known as Dr. Marsh Tracy on "Daktari."
This is Gary Dubin's first appearance as Punky Lazaar. He also appeared in episodes 71, 89, 91, 92 and 95.
Actual footage of "Marcus Welby, M.D." was filmed for this episode.
Shaun Cassidy (Shirley's son, David's half-brother, and a future teen idol) is one of the boys auditioning to replace Danny.
An alternate version of "Love Is All That I Ever Needed" was recorded, called "Love Is All That You Ever Needed", with different lyrics. It was never released on commercial LP.

I believe this is Punky's first appearance, although he's mentioned in Season One.

Had family in town all weekend so I am behind.
Punky reminds me of someone from and earlier sitcom. Eddie Haskell from Leave it to Beaver.
I also get a kick out of the fact that Danny is a Marcus Welby fan. PF is one of the few TV shows where the characters actually watch TV or even have one in the room.
I agree that Love is all that I ever needed is a great song, as are most of the tracks from Sound Magazine. Probably one of the best parts of the second season.
Also this epsisode reminds us once again of how real families are in that Danny gets paraoid when he's not being insulted by Keith because that's how they roll and siblings behave that way in real life.

Don't forget the Audition line-up he set up to "replace" Danny.

Ha! The Farkle Family! Laughing

I like noticing the little things on this go-round, like Keith sinigng the "do do do"s from Rainmaker in the living room. Kathy, you're bang on about Punky and Eddie Haskell. It's a complete personality transplant right down to the compliments for "Mrs. Partridge" and the two-faced way he puts one over on Danny about having tonsilitis.

Another fun episode to watch after too many years. I'm watching the musical performance now. I wonder what kiddie-meds they had Tracy on. She's playing tambourine as though she's underwater.

An observation from out in left field...Marshall Thompson, who played Dr. Milstead, reminds me of John Larroquette. I wonder if anyone else sees what I see.
