I was recently going through my profile.
I was thinking of changing my avatar to a
picture of me proposing to my wife.
I just wanted to see what it would look like.
But it didn't work, and my original picture was erased off the board.
I still have the originals on my computer.
It says that the pictures are too large.
Can they be resized? I think Jen did this for me once for my wife's picture.

Oh oh. I dunno how to do that. You would have to resize it first then upload it. Is there someone else that can help you?

You can resize pictures by importing them into powerpoint and saving the resized image as a jpeg file. Powerpoint is installed with most Windows systems.

If you have XP and the photo is JPEG and stored in "My Pictures" resizing is simple. Go to My Pictures and right click on the image. Put your pointer on "open with." Click on Microsoft Photo Editor. On the tool bar click on "Image" then click on "Resize." A window will open and you will see "height, width, and units" Set the units to "pixels" if not already and set the largest number, be it height or width, to 80 or below. The other number will change itself. Be sure both numbers are at or just below 80 pixels. Click ok and save your changes.

It worked! Thanks.
Although I'm not sure which picture I will be using.
I may go back to the original.
At least I know how to do this now.
Kinda harder to figure out because a lot of the text
on programs like this is in Chinese text.

Darryl, I sent the following information to you in a private message a few days ago. You haven't picked up the message so I decided to post it here for you and the benefit of others who may have read my previous post on resizing photos...

Darryl, I neglected to mention something about resizing photos. If you don't have a backup copy of the original you should make a copy and work from the copy, because once you make an image smaller and save your changes you can't reverse it. Hopefully you have a copy of the photos you resized on a disc. If not, I apologize for not informing you beforehand.

To copy an image file from My Pictures before resizing: Right click on the image, left click copy, place your pointer next to the image and right click, then left click paste.

Randy,
Sorry I missed your PM. It has been a busy weekend at work.
No need to worry about the pictures, I have the originals.
I can always scan them into my computer.
The engagement shot eas done with an expensive 35 mm camera.
The wedding photo was done by a professional wedding photographer.
I think I may eventually change back, because I like that photo better.
BTW, my current photo is of my Dad, who we lost back in 1998.

Thanks for all your help
Darryl
