So I was watching TV last night - the ABC lineup, when this commercial came on again. I didn't realize it was still playing after a year. Fun!

I think they just revived it on Oscar night-- the NBC-Universal stations (Bravo, etc) seem to air it the most

Hey, guys: Very Happy

On the topic of "David's Favorite Things" from the 1970s (according to Tiger Beat Magazine, anyway Rolling Eyes ), I remember that in addition to 7-Up, he supposedly had a mad love for "Screaming, Yellow Zonkers!", Laughing a snack treat I spent a couple of years looking for in the supermarkets at the time, to no avail! Shocked

A few years later (after I'd "outgrown" TPF, I saw a store display for this very product, and was surprised to find them to be a caramelized-popcorn-and-peanut confection.

If memory SERVES, that is. Wink

Which is MOST of the time, I'm sure, you cute, little thing!

As we both live in California, where the hell do you even FIND "Screaming, Yellow Zonkers!" out here nowadays as I always thought they were more of an East Coast product? Shocked Cool Laughing

The theme used on the 7 UP ad IS the Partridge Family according to many sources...it is the original, unaltered song that we know......see....

David also said his favorite song was "The Thrill Is Gone". I remember thinking, even as far back as the release of Sound Magazine, "Is this really David's favorite song, or is he slyly telling us something????"

Hey, guys: Very Happy

I know it's been a year (almost to the day) since PJ Laughing originally posted having heard TPF's "Sunshine" being used during a 7-UP commercial, but I heard it again last night during "Criminal Minds", my latest guilty TV pleasure. I know, I know, the rest of the world was watching "American Idol", Rolling Eyes but it was really a pleasant surprise to hear TPF out of nowhere like that once more! Laughing

In an earlier post, I noted that I believed it was a cereal commercial. Embarassed Oh, well, only goes to show HOW much attention I was paying to the product at the time.

Given this thread, I find it somewhat ironic that 7-UP would use a song by DC, who was (reputedly at one time, as all know know, of course) once a "big fan" of the soft drink! Shocked

Hell of a coincidence, isn't it, all these years later? Wink

Cassidy should include this song in his concerts. It must be a successful ad campaign since the commercial is still running. A Partridge song that is familiar to the under thirty 7up buyer. I'll drink to that!
