This is indeed sad news. Does anyone know if she was a smoker, exsmoker or never smoked? |

How sad after all she's already been through. My thoughts and prayers will be with her. _________________ Jennifer

The national news reported today that she has never ever smoked. They said 15% of all people with lung cancer have never smoked. How tragic for her and her son. I wish them well and offer up many prayers for her full recovery. That poor little boy had already been through the loss of a parent. |

Scott,
I had the exact reaction you did- how much is enough.

It hasn't even been a year that she lost her husband. My goodness, for 9 years she had to be strong for her husband. Does this mean that her son now has to be strong for her? What is he.....13? This poor kid had to see what happened to his Dad for most of his life. Now he has to go through this with his Mom? That's an awful lot for a kid to go through.
Not to be morbid here, but isn't this the same thing that Peter Jennings just passed away from? |

Lung cancer is not just one disease. There are many froms of the disease. Andy Kaufman, also a non smoker, died from it as well. A friend's father died from a form caused by breathing toxins at work. There are slow and fast growing types. Something like 87% of those who get it are smokers, though. _________________ They ran away to Europe to avoid the publicity.... |

Fortunately, if it's caught in time it doesn't always have to be fatal. People can live with one lung, for example. I just hope that it was caught in the early stages. |
