I watched the TV Land Awards last night and it was a pretty boring show. I think this is the 7th annual show, and I may have missed the last one, but I remember previous shows being a bit more festive.

Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Houser, How I met your Mother) did a good job as tthe host. Nice opening with him jumping from one tv show to another from "Dick Van Dyke" to "Twilight Zone", "Happy Days" to an excuse me visit to "Doogie Houser". But there was little interraction with the audience and an absence of classic tv stars other than the one's being honored.

I will say that the awards were more honorable this year. In previous years I use to get annoyed that many of the awards were silly and somewhat embarrassing. Tom Selleck as "Magnum PI" won the "Hero" award. He made a nice speech about not forgetting war veterans and those who lost their lives.

The cast of "2 1/2 Men" received 'future classic' award. Don Rickles and Julia Louse Dreyfus were both honored as legends. Many members of the casts of "Home Improvement", "Married with Children", and a 70's s soap spinoff from "Dallas" (forget the name) and "MASH" were honored also. Alan Alda gave Loretta swift a hot kiss!

There was a musical tribute to Sid & Marty Kroft shows that was probably the highlight of the show. Barry Williams, Cindy Lauper were guest star singers. I thought I had read that David Cassidy was suppose to be part of that - did DC pull out of it or was I just wrong as usual?

The absence of a tv celebrities doing any kind of musical number or a sketch took away some of the fun of the awards show.

I also couldn't help but feel old as asides from a mention of "Aunt Bee" from "Andy Griffith Show", and the bit Harris playing on "Dick Van Dyke", there was hardly any recognition for a tv show prior to 1969.

Nope-you're not wrong-David dropped out-Barry Williams took his place, singing the theme from Liddsville (you can barely hear him).
Cute gag about blogging during the show.
